Box Score

GREENSBORO, NC – UNC Greensboro sophomore Amy Carnell (Lake Stevens, WA) scored a pair of goals, including her third game-winner of the season, as the Spartans blanked Appalachian State, 2-0, in women's college soccer action, Thursday night at UNCG Soccer Stadium.

UNCG improves to 5-5-2 overall, 3-1 in the SoCon, while Appalachian State falls to 9-2-1 overall and 3-2 in the SoCon.

"It was a good win for us", said UNCG head coach Eddie Radwanski. " I felt like we dominated in every aspect of the game. We were very pleased in what we did, we attacked, we created chances, we kept the ball well, we were very solid."

Carnell recorded her first goal of the match at the 24:55 mark of the first half, when she took a corner kick from junior Rakel Logadottir and headed it in the left corner of the net. Carnell would record her seventh goal of the season at the 63:09 mark of the second half off a pass from Shannon Donovan.

The tough UNCG defense held the Mountaineers to only two shots for the game.

UNCG will next take on SoCon foe Elon on Monday, October 13 at 7 p.m., at the UNCG Soccer Stadium. Appalachian State will travel to The Citadel to take on the Bulldogs on Sunday at 3 p.m.
