Johnson City, TN - In a rematch of a five-game thriller earlier in the season, the East Tennessee State Buccaneers swept UNC Greensboro, 3-0, in Southern Conference volleyball action from Brooks Gym Friday. The Buccaneers took the match with game scores of 30-26, 30-16 and 30-18.

Both teams opened the match strong in the highly competitive first game with Lissa Allen carrying the Buccaneer offense. The Spartans, however, pushed ETSU to the brink behind the stellar efforts of senior LaJean Morrow. East Tennessee State managed to hang on for the 30-26 game one victory en route to the 3-0 match victory.

Morrow shined for the Spartans with 12 kills and Abbi Meyer flirted with a near double-double by registering 10 digs and nine kills. Lori Brooks and Lauren Richards each totaled three blocks, and Stephanie Elbe tallied 30 assists.

Allen led the ETSU offense with 16 kills on 22 attacks, while freshman Kelsey Sherich hit .550 for the match, including 12 kills. Freshman setter Kristi Robinson contributed with 50 assists. On the defensive side of the net, the Buccaneers got seven blocks out of freshman Jen Sarter . Meanwhile, freshman Natalie Pittenger led all players with 12 digs, followed by 10 digs from senior Kate Steidle.

UNCG will close out the 2003 campaign Saturday, as the Spartans visit SoCon rival Chattanooga at 2 pm.
