Volleyball Falls To Chattanooga, 3-0, In Season Finale

Chattanooga, TN- In the final game of the 2003 season, the UNC Greensboro volleyball team fell to Chattanooga, 3-0 (30-15,30-22, 30-26), Saturday afternoon in Maclellan Gym. With the loss, the Spartans close the season with an 8-24 and 3-15 in the Southern Conference.

UTC won the first game by getting out to a big early lead and holding on. In game two, senior LaJean Morrow, playing in her final game, carried the Spartan offense keeping UNCG close. With the score tied 12-12, UTC pulled away behind the serving of Kelly Ramsay. In game three, UTC edged ahead over the last half of the game to capture its 19th win of the season despite the stellar efforts of UNCG's Abbi Meyer and adrian Hicks on the defensive end. The Spartan defense allowed just one Lady Moc to record double-digit kills (Kari Krouse-10).

The Spartans were led by Morrow's match-high 14 kills. Rebekah Faulise led the Spartan defense with 16 digs, and Abbi Meyer added 15 and Adrian Hicks 10. Stephanie Elbe picked up 32 set assists.

Jody Steinberger and Ramsay both had nine kills, Julie Buck seven and Kelley Smith six. Lindsey Galloway led the defense with 13 digs, while Ramsay had a dozen and Amanda Durfee and Krouse both picked up nine.
