Third-Ranked Wake Forest Downs Spartans, 2-0, In Season Finale

Greensboro, NC - Scott Sealy scored both goals for Wake Forest as the Demon Deacons posted a 2-0 victory over UNC Greensboro Saturday night at the UNCG Soccer Stadium in collegiate men's soccer action. Wake Forest, ranked third in the nation, improves to 14-3 on the season, while UNCG slips to 9-7-2.

Wake Forest got on the board first at the 21:11 mark of the first half when Tomy Szczypiorski and Justin Moore teamed together on a pair of passes to Sealy in the box. With a one-timer, Sealy's shot found its way into the bottom left of the net past UNCG's goalkeeper, Jay Benfield, to put the Deacons on top, 1-0.

Sealy then recorded his second goal of the evening just 10 minutes later when he was awarded a penalty kick after being taken down from behind in the box. Sealy's shot went into the net in the bottom right corner for the 2-0 advantage.

On the evening, UNCG's Benfield recorded six saves in goal while Wake's Brad McEachern collected two on six Spartan shots.

With the win Wake Forest evens the all-time series with UNCG at 6-6-2. The Deacons also set a new school record with their tenth consecutive victory.

UNCG will return to action again in the 2003 Southern Conference Men's Soccer Championships played in Charleston, SC. The first round of the championships begin Thursday, November 13. Wake Forest will begin ACC Tournament play in Cary, NC, against Duke Wednesday at 5:30 pm at the SAS Soccer Complex.
