GREENSBORO, NC – Hofstra scored a pair of goals in the second half to get past UNC Greensboro, 2-0, in the second game of the 2003 UNCG/adidas Classic Presented by USA Staffing, Friday night at the UNCG Soccer Stadium.
After a scoreless first half, the Pride would get on the board at the 51:35 mark of the second half, when junior midfielder Erica Monz knocked in an unassisted goal. Hofstra would net its final goal of the match, just 2:20 later, when senior forward Emma Kilduff track down a loose ball and beat the UNCG goalkeeper for the ball.
"We didn't play well tonight," said UNCG head coach Eddie Radwanski. "Hofstra played very well this evening and capitalized on their opportunities. We simply didn't come out ready to play this evening."
In the first match of the evening, George Mason's Amy Alecci blasted in the game winning goal just two minutes into overtime to give the Patriots a 3-2 victory over LaSalle.
UNCG (2-1) returns to action on Sunday, September 7 against George Mason at 2:30 p.m., in game four 2003 UNCG/adidas Classic Presented by USA Staffing. Hofstra (3-0) will take on LaSalle in the day's opening match at 12 noon.
