GREENSBORO, N.C. – Midfielder Phil Long scored a pair of goals as the No. 2- ranked UNC Greensboro men's soccer team blanked Coastal Carolina, 2-0, in game two of the 2004 UNCG/adidas Classic, held Friday evening at the UNCG Soccer Stadium. With the win, UNCG improves to 11-0-1, while Coastal Carolina drops to 7-6.

Long, a junior from Wilson, N.C., opened the scoring at 54:27 when he scored unassisted. Long took a loose ball and fired a shot from 25 yards bending it into the left corner of the net.

Long's second goal of the evening came at 84:41 when he took a pass from Randi Patterson from ten yards out and beat a Coastal defender to net. Long, who now has five goals on the season, ranks third on the team in scoring with 12 points.

"It was a good win for us tonight," said UNCG head coach Michael Parker. "Coastal Carolina is a very dangerous team. I think that is as good a team as we have played all year. Give our kids credit, they defended well again, we didn't allow a goal all night."

In game one, Mac Wilkie had a goal and an assist, as Davidson defeated Mercer, 4-2. Ben Kittinger, David Sartorio and Aaron West added goals for the Wildcats who ended a six-game losing streak. The Wildcats outshot the Bears, 14-3, including 7-1 in the second half.

Day two of the UNCG/adidas Classic is slated for Sunday afternoon at the UNCG Soccer Stadium. UNCG takes on Mercer at 3 p.m., while Coastal Carolina tangles with Davidson at 5 p.m.
