DAVIDSON, NC – The UNC Greensboro women's soccer team continued to dominate the Southern Conference on Sunday, recording a 3-0 shutout against Davidson at Alumni Soccer Stadium.
The Spartans tacked on their sixth shutout this season and improved to an 8-3-1 overall record, 5-0-0 in the SoCon. The UNCG defense has allowed just one goal thus far in conference play. Senior goalkeeper Katherine Ryan nabbed her fourth shutout of the season and the 10th of her career. With the loss, Davidson's eight-game unbeaten streak came to a close. They fell to 8-4-1 on the season, 3-1-1 SoCon.
A little over 16 minutes into the game, Kristin Player lit up the board for the Spartans. A long feed from sophomore Jen Bronson set the freshman forward up to find the back of the net for the eighth time this season. Bronson beat Wildcats keeper Bevin English one-on-one for the tally.
Freshman Jenn Partenheimer recorded her second goal this season at 28:02 to make it a 2-0 advantage. A give-and-go with junior Heather Mitrisin got Partenheimer the ball on the near side. After a quick one touch, she was able to beat her defender and put the ball inside the near post.
Katie Jordan scored UNCG's final goal of the game with less than 13 minutes to go. The freshman forward recorded her first goal as a Spartan with a chip shot to the near post just inside the box. Jordan was assisted by Partenheimer and sophomore Kelly Attayek.
The Wildcats held a 13-10 shot advantage with three corner kicks.
UNCG's Katherine Ryan collected six saves and Davidson's Bevin English four.
The Spartans return home Thursday, October 18 to entertain The Citadel for a 7 pm game at UNCG Soccer Stadium.
