SPARTANBURG, SC UNC Greensboro scored twice in the first nine minutes of the match and didn't look back in a 4-0 win at Wofford on Saturday night in Southern Conference men's soccer action.
The Spartans (5-4-2, 1-2-0) snapped a three-game losing skid with the win. Wofford (2-7-1) lost its seventh straight match. The Spartans continued their dominance of the Terriers, having beaten them in all 14 meetings all-time.
Junior Tebatso Manyama started the scoring just 1:11 into the match. Travis Young fed Thomas Campbell, who hit a cross from the right side of the box. Manyama knocked it home from point blank range for a 1-0 lead and his second goal of the year.
Young, a junior from Raleigh, NC, gave the Spartans a two-goal lead at 8:49 with his first goal of the season. Manyama took a shot, which deflected off a defender to Young. He then shot it into the goal for the 2-0 lead. Young is the ninth different Spartan to record a goal this season.
Campbell tacked on a pair of second half goals to put the game out of reach. Manyama crossed to Campbell, who froze the defense when he settled the ball and then made a quick move for the scoring shot at 56:01.
The Middletown, NJ product scored again at 71:22 off a rebound. Tim Masters' initial shot hit the left post. The ball came right to Campbell, who poked it home for his fifth goal of the season and the final tally of the night.
Sophomore goalkeeper Nate Berry had two saves in recording the shutout for UNCG, his third this season. The Spartans held a 21-10 advantage in shots, including 14-4 in the second half.
The Spartans return home to face Davidson on Tuesday at 7 pm.
