JACKSONSVILLE, FL North Florida's starting pitcher John Atteo allowed one run on five hits in six innings of work as the UNC Greensboro baseball team fell 3-2 to North Florida on Sunday afternoon at Harmon Stadium.
Junior Scott Schneider gave UNCG (7-7) the 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth on a RBI single. Classmate Greg Feltes reached second on a single and a ground out before Schneider singled down right to bring him in for the run.
In the bottom of the sixth, UNF (8-11) tacked on two runs to take the 2-1 lead. With the bases loaded, Jon Dandridge singled up the middle, allowing Damon Olinto to score. The Ospreys used a sacrifice fly from Mike Smith to add another run for the one-run lead.
North Florida added another run in the seventh on a single to centerfield. The Spartans, however, answered with an unearned run in the bottom of the eighth to cut the home team's lead back to one. UNF's Tyler Stohr pitched a scoreless ninth to earn his third save of the year and secure the win for the Ospreys.
