GREENSBORO, N.C.—North Carolina A&T placed five players in double figures and connected for 10 three-pointers as the Aggies handed UNCG an 87-65 defeat, Monday at Greensboro Coliseum.

Trevis Simpson led the Spartans (2-4) with 17 points, but his efforts weren't enough to keep the Aggies (4-3) from winning their fourth straight game.

Reserve R.J. Buck led A&T with 16 points, one of three reserves in double figures. The Aggies' bench out-scored UNCG, 51-27.

The Aggies shot 57 percent from the field, including nearly 48 percent from three-point range. A&T shot 61.5 percent in the first half as it raced to a 42-28 halftime lead.

Playing as the visiting team, UNCG led by as many as four points in the early going and owned an 11-8 advantage with 12:53 remaining in the first half. But Buck started an 18-4 run with back-to-back layups and when the dust settled the Aggies had seized control of the game and led 26-15 with 8:14 before halftime.

UNCG closed to within 26-19 on a three-pointer by Nicholas Paulos with 5:15 left, but never got any closer.

In the second half the Spartans tried to rally but couldn't cut the deficit to single digits. Back-to-back three-pointers by Jean Louisme gave the Aggies a 69-48 lead with 7:24 left. A&T led three times by 26 points, the last coming when an Adrian Powell layup made it 82-56 with 2:43 to play.

Drew Parker came off the bench and scored 12 points for the Spartans, making all four of his three-point attempts. Korey Van Dussen chipped in with 11 points.

Nic Simpson had 13 points for the Aggies while Austin Whitter added 12, Kam Shepard scored 11 and Powell chipped in with 10.

The Spartans were limited to 31 percent shooting from the field but enjoyed a 16-of-20 effort at the free throw line.

Next up for the Spartans is the start of Southern Conference play. UNCG visits Appalachian State, 7 p.m., Thursday.
