GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG fell to Coastal Carolina, 3-1, in its first match of the day and then fell to East Tennessee State by the same score in the nightcap on the first day of the UNCG Invitational on Friday in Fleming Gymnasium.

In the final match of the evening, East Tennessee State came storming out of the gates it ran out to a 6-0 lead, which forced UNCG to burn a timeout. After an attack error by the Bucs, UNCG cut the lead down to 14-10, but the Spartan were never able to get closer as they dropped the set, 25-17.
In the second set, the Spartans came right back to tie the match at one apiece. UNCG held a narrow 11-9 lead midway through the set before taking a 17-12 lead on a kill by Lysacek.
The Bucs would answer, however, and cut the Spartan lead down to 18-16. After a UNCG timeout, the Spartans went on a 7-1 run to win the set, 25-17 and knot the match at one at intermission.

East Tennessee State would use a 6-1 run later in the set to take an 18-12 lead as they won the set, 25-22, on a kill by Megan Devine.
The fourth and final set was another close one as the Bucs pulled out the set, 25-21, to win the match.
