CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The UNCG women's basketball team will play its eighth road game in its last 10 contests when the Spartans match up with Southern Conference leader Chattanooga Monday at McKenzie Arena.

The Blue and Gold comes into the contest off of a 52-51 win at Samford Saturday, handing the Bulldogs just their third home loss of the season.

Junior forward Janae' Stevenson (Columbia, S.C./Eau Claire) scored seven points in the second half to end up with a team-best 11 while also pulling down eight rebounds. Classmate and guard Breonna Patterson (Greensboro, N.C./Dudley) also finished in double figures with 10, including a 4-for-6 performance at the charity stripe. For the second-straight game, senior forward Sidnei Harmon (Cincinnati, Ohio/Turpin) paced the Spartans in rebounding with nine (five offensive). Every UNCG player who entered the game scored while all but one pulled down a rebound.

The Blue and Gold did not shoot for a high percentage, but a 17-2 advantage in offensive rebounding allowed the Spartans to put up 13 more attempts (58-45) than the home team. UNCG finished at 28 percent from the floor (16-for-58) while the Bulldogs shot 38 percent (17-for-45). The Spartans also used that cushion on the offensive glass to out-rebound Samford 43-32 overall.

• Monday's contest marks the 38th meeting between UNCG and Chattanooga with the Mocs holding a commanding 31-6 advantage in the series. The Spartans have not beaten Mocs since a 71-68 victory Jan. 2, 2007 in McKenzie Arena.

• In the season's first meeting, Chattanooga rolled to a 76-46 victory at Fleming Gymnasium Jan. 5. The Lady Mocs knocked down eight three-point field goals, including three each by Kayla Christopher and Alex Black, to aid their effort. The Spartans fired at 39 percent from the field in the second half to end up at 34 percent for the contest. Chattanooga finished with a 38-35 advantage in rebounding, with UNCG pulling down 13 offensive boards to the visitors' 12. The Blue and Gold turned the ball over 26 times, leading to 27 points as well as 17 steals. The Lady Mocs also distributed the ball well, picking up 20 assists. Junior Janae' Stevenson and sophomore Jarae Savage paced the Spartan offense with 14 points each while freshman Lucy Mason chipped in with 13 of her own. Stevenson blocked three shotsto move into a tie for third place on the program career top 10 list.

• Chattanooga picked up its 20th win Saturday, downing Elon 63-40 and avenging its only SoCon loss in the process. Freshman Tatianna Jackson scored a career high to lead the Lady Mocs to their 10th straight win. Jackson was 6-for-8 from the field with a pair of 3-pointers for a team-high 14 points. She was joined in double-figures by juniors Ashlen Dewart and Faith Dupree with 12 and 11 points respectively. Dewart pulled down eight boards for the Lady Mocs while Dupree drained her one 3-point attempt in just seven minutes on the floor. Junior Taylor Hall recorded eight points and nine rebounds with two blocked shots.

UNCG returns home Saturday, Feb. 16 for its second meeting of the season with Elon. Tipoff at Fleming Gymnasium is scheduled for 2 p.m. The Spartans led at the half in the first game at Alumni Gym but eventually fell 71-60.
