SoCon Releases Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches' Poll and Preseason All-Conference Team
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's basketball team was voted to finish second with two first-place votes in The Southern Conference (SoCon) Preseason Coaches' Poll, announced by the league office on Wednesday.

Makiah Asidanya were selected to the SoCon Preseason All-Conference Team after both of their stellar performances last season.
Lee started in all 32 games in her first season as a Spartan last year. She is the leading returning scorer for the squad, averaging 9.3 points per game in the 2024-25 season. The junior also stood out defensively last season with 42 steals, averaging 1.3 steals per game. The Brentwood, Tennessee, native paced the team at the charity stripe last season with a 73.6 free throw percentage, going 78-for-106 on the season.
Asidanya came in off the bench in all 32 games last season, tallying 11 double-figure scoring games. She returns as the leader from behind the arc with 33 made three-pointers on the 2024-25 slate. The Pittsburg, California, native, was second-best on the team last year in assists with 48 total and averaging 1.5 assists per game.

th year with the Blue & Gold this year after a historic 2024-25 season.
The Spartans earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament last season for the first time since 1998. The team defeated Chattanooga, 64-57, in the 2025 SoCon Championship, earning an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
UNCG wrapped up the 2025 conference slate with a 13-1 record, marking its best SoCon regular season finish in program history to earn the SoCon Regular Season Title.
The 2025-26 roster features five returners and eight newcomers. Four of the newcomers are freshmen, while the other four are transfer students.
The Spartans will begin the 2025-26 season with a trip to California, facing Stanford on Monday, Nov. 3 at 10:00 p.m. EST/7:00 p.m. PST before taking on San Francisco on Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 7:30 p.m. EST/4:30 p.m. PST.
