Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss, (25-21, 25-20, 25-21) on the road at ETSU Saturday afternoon in Southern Conference action. The Spartans were paced by Jessica Brezwyn (Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South) and Ashley Muench (Hurdle Mills, N.C./Orange) who each had eight kills in the loss.
Allison Penner (Aurora, Neb./Aurora) led the squad with 13 assists while Sara Hohman (Zionsville, Ind./Cathedral) had 12 helpers of her own. SoCon Defensive Player of the Month Christina Gregory (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart Academy) had a team-best 12 digs while adding five assists.
The Spartans were held to a .144 hitting percentage overall in the loss. Despite edging the Bucs 10-7 in total blocks, six of which Jasmine Jones (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point) had a hand in, UNCG was unable to stop ETSU's offense, which totaled 48 kids in the match with a .268 clip.
With Saturday's loss, UNCG is now 8-18 all-time against the Bucs. The Spartans (8-10, 3-3 SoCon) will look to bounce back and move above .500 in league play when they host Samford inside Fleming Gymnasium Friday, October 14, at 7 p.m.
