Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG women's soccer team earned its first win of the season Sunday afternoon with a 3-0 victory over Tennessee Tech at the UNCG Soccer Stadium. After a 0-0 stalemate in the first half, the Spartans broke open the scoreboard scoring three goals in the final 15 minutes of regulation, two of which were scored by 2015 Southern Conference Freshman of the Year Caylin Prillaman (High Point, N.C./Wesleyan Christian Academy).
Chloe Buehler (Perrysburg, Ohio/Penn State) tallied her second shutout of the season making five saves in Sunday's win. Buehler was backed by solid Spartans' back line compiled of Gabbi Charles (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville) and Regan Lehman (Wilmington, Del./Padua Academy) who played a full 90 minutes for the Spartans.
Prillaman notched the Spartans first goal in the 76th minute when she fired a shot from inside the six-yard line off a corner by Ashton Duty (Waxhaw, N.C./Cuthbertson) who earned her first career assist on the goal.
Less than six minutes later Dena Cisic (Lawrenceville, Ga./Collins Hill) scored her first career goal on a pass from Maddie Hoffmann (Raleigh, N.C./Leesville Road) to give the Spartans a 2-0 advantage.
Prillaman added an unassisted goal in the 88th minute when she challenged TTU's goalkeeper Kari Naerdemann one-on-one. The ball slipped out from Naerdemann and Prillaman ran it down to tap the ball in just a foot outside the goal line.
The Spartans pick up their first win in program history over the Golden Eagles and first win of the season with a 3-0 shutout.
UNCG returns to action Friday, August 26, when the Spartans travel down I-40 to face Elon. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
