Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG women's soccer team (3-3-1) suffered a one-goal loss to Liberty (3-3) Thursday night at the UNCG Soccer Stadium. It marks the first time the Spartans have lost back-to-back games since losing to High Point and No. 23 Kentucky August 23 and 28, 2015.
The first half was an even played match but a scramble in the Spartans defensive end with under two minutes to go in the opening stanza resulted in Liberty's lone goal of the game by freshman Anna Roach.
Chloe Buehler (Perrysburg, Ohio/Penn State) made four saves in the first half while Liberty's goalkeeper Holly Van Noord made two in the first half and one in the second.
Cienna Rideout (Henderson, Nev./Coronado) recorded the only shot on goal for the Spartans in the match as they were outshot 14-9 overall. Regan Lehman (Wilmington, Del./Padua Academy) accounted for a team-high three shots as she logged all 90 minutes of the contest.
The Flames earned just their second win in the all-time series Thursday night as UNCG leads it 6-2.
The Spartans return to the pitch Sunday, September 11, when UNCG hosts William and Mary at 2 p.m. Fans can watch live on the SoCon Digital Network and follow live stats at UNCGSpartans.com
