GREENSBORO, N.C. – Marcus Vidgren (Stockholm, Sweden/Stockholm Idrotts Gymnasium) earned a come from behind victory at No. 5 singles to help UNCG men's tennis secure a 4-3 victory over the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers. The Spartans improve to 3-2 on the season, while Coastal Carolina falls to 4-4.
UNCG took the doubles portion to start the competition. The pair of Connor Thompson (Atlanta, Ga./Holy Innocents) and Vidgren defeated Sebastian Schneider and Zak Talic, 7-5. Warren Bryan (Greensboro, N.C./Longwood) and Logan Walker (Stuart, Fla./Morningside Academy) defeated Luiz Faria and Francesco Gamero, 6-3 to take the point.
The singles portion began with UNCG and Coastal Carolina splitting the No. 4 and No. 5 matches. Talic defeated Daniel Hammarstedt (Stockholm, Sweden/Ava Gymnasium), 6-3, 6-4 and Thompson took care of business at No. 1, defeating Vuk Velickovic, 6-3, 1-6, 6-2. Schneider knocked off Albright at No. 3 doubles, setting the table for Vidgren. After dropping the first set 6-7 (2), he took down Faria 7-5, and 6-1 to earn UNCG the victory.
