GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG men's tennis took the UNCG Tennis Courts for the first time of the spring season Saturday afternoon against the Furman Paladins. The Spartans fell 5-2, dropping their season record to 7-7 and to 1-2 in Southern Conference play. Furman improves to 14-5 and 3-1 in SoCon play.
Furman got the scoring started by taking two of the three doubles matches to earn the first point. The Paladins earned 6-1 wins at No. 1 and No. 3, with UNCG's Logan Walker and Marcus Vidgren defeating Ivan Mitric and Drew Singerman, 6-4 at No. 2.
Singles play saw UNCG earn two wins. After falling at No. 4 and 2, Jack Burkill got the Spartans on the board with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Daniel Vishimek. Furman took the match with a victory at No. 3 before Connor Thompson earned the second Spartan point after defeating Cameron Green, 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 (7-3) at No. 1.
