Women's Soccer Adds Natalie Sabiston to 2018 Class

GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG women's soccer has added Natalie Sabiston to its 2018 recruiting class, head coach Michael Coll announced on Wednesday. Sabiston joins the 11 that have already signed: Ashley Avelino, Ashley Bido, Anna Bryant, Isabelle Blomdahl, Kayla Campbell, Seraiah Dunham, Carolina Fiorella, Jordin Mosley, Rachel Rouse, Nicole Souply and Gracie Timbario

Sabiston is a midfielder/forward from Southern Pines, North Carolina. She has lettered all four years, with the last two seasons at Pinecrest High School under head coach Corey Rice the past two years and before at Smithfield-Selma High School. She helped lead the Patriots in 2017 to the third round of the state playoffs and the Sandhills 4A Conference Championship. With Smithfield-Selma, she was named the team's most valuable offensive player, All-Two Rivers 3A Conference, all-county and all-region. She led the conference in scoring in both years, including in goals her freshman season. This season she currently sits in second place in goals in the conference and has been a team captain for both schools since her sophomore year.

Playing for the Athletic Club of the Sandhills under coach Luis Pages the past year, she has helped the club team to champions in multiple tournaments: the BB&T Labor Day Shootout, Wilson Summer Explosion Cup and Savannah Senior Cup. She was named the MVP in the Wilson Summer Explosion Cup as the leading scorer while serving as team captain. While playing in the Johnston United Soccer Association under her father Paul Sabiston, she was the leading scorer and a team captain. She has also participated with the North Carolina ODP Teams 1 and 2 in sub-regional events in Williamsburg, Virginia and Gainsville, Georgia and the ODP Region III Summer Pool Camp in Alabama. At Smithfield-Selma she played on the varsity basketball team.

Sabiston plans to major in Environmental and Sustainability Studies. She has been involved in various clubs while in high school. With Smithfield-Selma she volunteered with the food pantry, served as the president of the Foreign Language Club and was a member of the Future Bestselling Authors Club, Recycling Club and  International Baccalaureate Danish Exchange Program. At Pinecrest she is a Junior Marshal, member of the Amnesty International, French Club, and National Honor Society and was the North Carolina Governor's School nominee in Social Science for Johnston County.
