Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNC Greensboro volleyball (6-9, 0-1) was unable to pick up a victory in its Southern Conference opener on Friday evening, dropping a 3-0 (14-25, 20-25, 23-25) decision to Western Carolina in Fleming Gymnasium.
Despite either being tied or trailing through the entirety of the first two sets, the Spartans opened up the third set with a 6-0 lead before falling behind in the final set to close out the night.

--Junior Maria Esch once again led the team in kills (12) and digs (14).
--Freshman Gabriela McHugh paced the team in assists with 25.
--With the outcome, UNCG now trails in the all-time series against Western Carolina in conference competition 23-22.

The Spartans will return to action tomorrow after when they host ETSU in a match that will start at 5 p.m.
