GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG men's basketball picks up its 20th win of the season this Wednesday night, completing the season sweep of visiting Western Carolina in an 82-62 final. With 20 points on the night, guard Isaiah Miller delivered a team-high against the Catamounts, eclipsing the 20-point mark for the 11th time this season.Â
The UNCG defense allowed just six Catamount buckets in the first half, holding the visiting side to 3-for-18 in the opening 12 minutes of play. The Spartans would lead by as much as 20 after going on a 16-1 run in the first half, ultimately taking a 41-25 advantage into the break, and forcing WCU to just 6-of-27 shooting.
Sophomore forward Mohammed Abdulsalam registered a career-high four blocks in the first period alone on the way to recording five rejections in total. Nine Spartans scored buckets in the opening 20 minutes, led by 12 points from Miller, while 12 of the Catamounts' 25 points and seven of their 21 rebounds came from Carlos Dotson alone. The remainder of the WCU squad converted a combined three buckets before the halftime break.
After allowing the Catamounts to score seven of the first eight points of the second half, the Spartans got back into the driver's seat, jumping out to a 65-40 lead halfway through the period. The Spartans would hit 15-of-27 from the floor in the final 20 minutes on the way to an 82-62 victory and their 11th win in SoCon play.Â
Keyshaun Langley scored nine of his 14 points in the second period, with Miller adding eight to finish with a team-high of 20 on the night. The Spartans' victory gives the side 20 overall for the 2019-20 campaign, along with 13 wins when playing at home this season.Â
