PALM CITY, Fla. - UNCG men's golf closed out competition at Osprey Creek in fashion on Sunday. With a final score of 41-under-par, the Spartans held on for their second consecutive title at the Martin Downs Collegiate in Palm City. The Spartans set a new 54-hole program record with a final score of 823.
Zack Swanson carried his strong second round performance into championship Sunday, shooting a third-round score of 4-under to win the individual crown. It was a sight to see, as Swanson sunk a high-pressure birdie putt to seal the deal.
Senior
Jonathan Brightwell followed suit with his teammate, finishing the tournament in second-place at 15-under. The No. 8 ranked collegiate golfer in the country hit an eagle on 17, closing out the round with a 2-under 70.
2019 individual champion,
Nick Lyerly, didn't waver on day three, staying consistent to finish tied for fourth-place at 10-under. Rounding out team-play was
Justin Emmons (+2) and
Noah Connor (+2).
