Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Men’s Tennis Beat Florida Gulf Coast 4-3

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCG men's tennis leave Wilmington with an impressive win over Florida Gulf Coast this Saturday, downing the Eagles in a 4-3 final.
 
UNCG lost out on the doubles point after losing matches on court two and three. The duo of Jack Burkill and Alex Zuckerman lost on court two 6-1 to Montes and Tebet. Cooper Wyett and Hugh Knapp came up short against Bradford and Stefanacci 7-5. The lone Spartan doubles victory came on court one with Nico Grewe and Ollie Palmer claiming a 6-4 win over Ramirez and Sakalauskas.
 
The Spartans had all the work to do in singles play having to win four matches to complete the comeback victory. The Spartans fell 2-0 behind as Logan Blaser lost out on court six to Maciel 6-2, 6-1. Palmer claimed the first Spartan point of the day taking care of business on court one 6-3, 6-1 against Ramirez. Cooper Wyett then claimed his second straight win of the season while getting the better of Lopez 6-2, 7-5 on court five. Shortly after Alex Zuckerman fell on court four to Stefanacci 6-4, 7-5, Grewe took his match 6-4, 4-6, 6-0 on court three against Sakalauskas to put the Spartans one win away from victory. With the match tied up at three all it came down to court number two. Hugh Knapp came out victorious clinching the match against Montes 7-5, 5-7, 6-4 to give the Spartans the win!
 
COMING UP NEXT
The Spartans improve to 2-2 for the season with their next match coming against Appalachian State this Friday at home. Doubles play is currently scheduled for 2 p.m.
