GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG men's golf placed third in the inaugural Dorado Beach Collegiate after the final two rounds were cancelled due to heavy rainfall. The Spartans finished the tournament with a 9-under par (279) as a team, behind only No. 21 Louisville (-19) and No. 44 Kansas (-12).
The Spartans had three golfers in the top 15, led by Justin Emmons (-4) who finished in a tie for fifth place individually. Jonathan Brightwell and Jack Marcotte both shot 2-under and tied for 15th place. Nick Lyerly shot a 71, followed by Zack Swanson at 76, while Noah Connor competed as an individual and shot an 80.
In its first year, the Dorado Beach Collegiate was hosted by UNCG on the Sugarcane Course at TPC Dorado Beach in Dorado, Puerto Rico.
The Spartans' next tournament is the General Hacker Championship March 9-10 at the Dunes Golf Club in Myrtle Beach, SC.
