Dickey Sets Program Record On Final Day Of Regular Season

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.  – Senior James Dickey sets a new UNCG men's basketball record on Saturday as the Spartans fall to Chattanooga 74-72 on the final day of the regular season. With 1,048 career boards and 1,003 career points Dickey now owns the UNCG program rebound record, and is just the second player in SoCon history to finish his basketball career with over 1,000 points, 1,000 boards and 200 blocks.

The Spartans jumped out to a 13-2 lead in the opening six minutes of Saturday night's contest, leading by as much as 11 with just six minutes remaining in the opening half. The Mocs would close out the period on a 15-4 run to take a 40-37 lead into the break however, hitting six of their last 10 field goal attempts before the break.

Kaleb Hunter scored a team-high 13 points in the opening 20 minutes alone, with Isaiah Miller pouring in 10 of his own. Both sides hit six threes in the opening half, with UNCG pulling down five offensive boards before the break.

Chattanooga would lead for nearly the entirety of the second half, with the Spartans tying things at 56-all with 10:53 remaining. The Mocs outscored UNCG 18-16 for the remainder of the second period, despite Miller scoring the final five points of the contest.

Hunter hit 3-of-4 field goals to score another eight points in the second half totaling 21 on the day, while Miller dealt out four assists in the final 20 minutes. The Spartans hit another six threes in the second period to finish with 12 on the night, two short of their season-high.

The Spartans fall to 13-5 in conference play, but their final result of the regular season will not have an effect on their spot in the Southern Conference tournament, rematching with No. 6 Chattanooga next Saturday at 8:30 p.m. in Asheville.
