GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG men's tennis comes within a point of visiting Navy, taking a 4-3 loss to the Midshipmen this Monday in Greensboro.Â
The Spartans swept doubles play, taking the early 1-0 advantage.
Roger Rogowski and
Cooper Wyett combined for a 6-3 win on court two, with
Jack Burkill and
Hugh Knapp winning by the same score on court three.
Nico Grewe and
Ollie Palmer took down the Midshipmen's top pairing, grabbing their fourth match win of the spring when playing together.
UNCG took just two of six individual matchups however, with Grewe collecting his second victory of the day against the Naval Academy's No. 4. The junior dropped set one by a final of 6-3, but came back with 6-3 and 6-4 decisions. The Spartans dropped the next three matches to give the visitors the win however, with
Alexander Zuckerman taking his team's final point on a three-set win in the fifth seed.
The Spartans move to 4-5 on the year, after grabbing their first conference victory of the season just this past Saturday against Samford.
