Spartans Host Citadel for Annual Dig Pink Game

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro Spartans will welcome the Citadel Bulldogs to Fleming Gym for the annual Pink Game on Friday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m.

PINK GAME
The Spartans will be sporting pink ribbon during the game, kicking off Breast Cancer Awareness month.

ABOUT THE SPARTANS
  • The Spartans have improved to a 17-3 overall record and 6-1 in the Southern Conference. UNCG continues to sit at the top of the SoCon standings, with their most recent 3-1 victory over the Western Carolina Catamounts.
  • With the 17 wins the Spartans have this season, it is the fifth most wins in the last 10 seasons. The most was back in 2015 when they finished 22-11.
  • Kayla White continues to lead the Spartans with 300 kills on the season so far. Her 22 kills against the Catamounts brings her career total to 963, just 37 shy of another career milestone.
  • Gabriela McHugh is averaging 10.53 assists per set this season. The junior has a total of 790 total assists on the season, which puts her at the top of division one volleyball.
  • Brittany Wood's 15 kills in the 3-1 win over Western Carolina is the sixth time the junior has had double digit kills.
  • Defensively, Grey Breen and Hannah Knier have been great this season. Knier leads the team with 75 total blocks (17 solo, 58 assisted) and Breen follows with 65 total (19 solo, 46 assisted).
  • Jenna Wiggs leads the team with 305 digs this season. The senior libero averages 4.07 dig per set.  
 
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
  • The Bulldogs are coming off a 3-0 sweep over the Furman Paladins. This improves their record to 7-5, 3-3 in the Southern Conference. The other two wins for The Citadel are against Wofford and Chattanooga.
  • Sharlissa de Jesus leads the Bulldogs with 177 kills, averaging 4.02 kills per set. She also leads with 20 service aces.
  • Belle Hogan is the Bulldogs go to setter. Hogan has a total of 386 on the season so far.
  • Gina Delancey has been a staple for The Citadel at the net. She has 38 blocks on the season (nine solo, 29 assisted).
  • Kenzie Kellerman, Ali Ruffin, de Jesus, and Hogan are the Bulldogs with 100+ digs on the season. Kellerman leads with 195.
