KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – On the opening day of the Palmetto Intercollegiate, graduate student
Tara Bettle shot two-under 70 to lead UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's golf team.
Following the first round, UNCG was sitting sixth shooting 287. Round two will be resumed tomorrow morning at 9 a.m., before beginning the final 18 holes.

How It Happened: Round One
- Bettle carded one-under on both the first and second nine. She birdied in the opening round.
- The Berlin, Germany native is tied for ninth.
- Freshmen Grace Holcomb and Ava Romfo are in the top-25 following the first round, as Holcomb is tied for 17th and Romfo is tied for 21st.
- Holcomb shot par in her first eight holes and birdied four times in the remaining 10 holes shooting one-under 71.
- This was Holcomb's first-collegiate round under par.
- With three birdies in her first round, Romfo shot her career low of even par 72.
- Sophomore Victoria Cook tallied a team best five birdies, shooting two-over 74, tied for 40th.
- Senior Hailey Joy carded three birdies in the first round.
