UNCG Continues SoCon Competition in South Carolina

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) volleyball team will continue its Southern Conference slate with a trip to South Carolina to take on the Wofford Terriers and the Furman Paladins. The Spartans will start the weekend against the Terriers on Friday at 7 p.m. After, they will head to Greeneville to face Furman on Saturday at 2 p.m.

ABOUT THE SPARTANS
  • As a team, UNCG sits at the top of all conference statistical categories except assists, where they are second.
  • Kayla White moved up in the ranks in SoCon service aces. The outside hitter has served 33 aces, averaging 0.52 per set, which places her at the top in the conference and sixth in the nation.
  • UNCG is ranked in the top 20 in six statistical categories in the nation: dis per set (14), team attacks per set (16), team digs (7), team kills (19), team service aces (13), and team total attacks (15).
  • Gabriela McHugh rank sixth in the nation in total assists. The junior has a total of 655 assists on the season.
 
SCOUTING THE TERRIERS
  • Wofford is coming off a four-set loss at The Citadel. Sarah Barham was the lone Terrier to have double digit kills.
  • Three Terriers have registered 100+ kills this season: Megan Yaffa (159), Sarah Barham (128), and Addison Foote (116).
  • Emily Hodson has been the leader in assists for Wofford. The sophomore has dished out 547 so far. She also led in service aces with 25.
  • Barham has been a staple for the Terriers defense, posting 67 blocks, 19 of which have been solo.
 
SCOUTING THE PALADINS
  • The Paladins are coming off a 3-0 loss on Wednesday against The Citadel in Charleston. 
  • Bella Tolone leads the Paladins offensively with 152 kills and is one of three players to have over 100 kills on the season along with Maya Mrus (129) and Neci Harris (129).
  • Sarah Turner has dished out 336 assists and Ella Abraham adds 199.
  • Defensively, Andrea Aceveda contributes 244 digs and Kelsey Watkins 38 total blocks (9 solo, 29 assisted).
