GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's golf team hosted the Grandover Fall Classic for the first time on Monday.
At the conclusion of round two, the Spartans improved 19 strokes to sit sixth overall. Round three will begin tomorrow, Tuesday, at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.

How It Happened: Round One
- Graduate student Tara Bettle led the Spartans carding 76 (+4) with one birdie on the 165-yard hole three.
- Her score had her tied for 12th.
- Freshman Ava Romfo was the next Blue & Gold on the leaderboard shooting 79 (+7), tying for 22nd.
- Romfo and classmate Gabriela Cruz led the Spartans with two birdies each.
- Sophomore Victoria Cook shot her lone birdie on the 480-yard hole six, tying with freshman Grace Holcomb for 53rd.
- Senior Hailey Joy carded one birdie in round one on the 370-yard hole 10.
- The Spartans ended round one carding 325 as a team, tying for 10th.
How It Happened: Round Two
- After shooting two-under on her first nine of round two which included three birdies, Bettle added another birdie on the second nine and carded 73 (+1).
- The Berlin, Germany native sits sixth after two rounds, five strokes behind the ETSU leader shot even par 144.
- Romfo moved up six spots, tying for 16th with a second-round score of 76 (+4).
- The native of Charleston, South Carolina finished the back nine even par with three birdies. She added a birdie on the front nine, totaling six on the day.
- Holcomb climbed 23 spots up the leaderboard after carding a 74 (+2) on round two tying for 30th. She shot three birdies on round two and was even par on the back nine.
- Cruz shot her third birdie of the day on the 165-yard hole three, totaling three on the day.
- Cook recorded her second birdie of the day also on the third hole and her third birdie on the 125-yard hole 12.
- The Spartans improved their score from round one by 19 strokes bringing them to a total of 631 (+18) to put them in sixth place in the 12-team field.
