SoCon Announces All-Tournament Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Senior Ashley Avelino of the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's soccer team was named to the 2021 Southern Conference (SoCon) Women's Soccer Championship All-Tournament Team announced by the league Sunday.
 
Avelino started and appeared in all 18 games for the Spartans this season in the backline. She scored a goal in a 2-1 victory over VMI (Sept. 26) and one in a 5-0 shutout over The Citadel (Oct. 10). She was one of seven Spartans to find the back of the net and one of 15 Spartans to register at least one point this season.
 
The senior defender was a key contributor in the backline as she assisted the Blue & Gold to posting seven shutouts and holding opponents to 1.04 goals against average.
 
UNCG reached the SoCon quarterfinal round and fell to Western Carolina University in a 1-0 overtime heartbreaker on October 30.
