GREENSBORO, N.C. – It seems like the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's basketball team has been on the road forever even though the Spartans made a quick pit stop at home this past Wednesday to beat Furman in a key contest.
 
Again, UNCG heads back on the road for two critical challenges beginning with a trip to Mercer in a Saturday matinee. Tip-off from Hawkins Arena is at 2 p.m. The Spartans defeated the Bears, 81-68 in Greensboro on Jan. 27.
 
UNCG has six games remaining. Four are on the road. The Spartans enjoy a one-game lead over Wofford and Furman in the Southern Conference. That means nothing on Feb. 12. It will mean plenty if the standings are still the same around 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27.

• UNCG leads the SoCon in scoring defense (66.5), FG percentage defense (40.7), 3-point field goal defense (29.9), turnover margin (+3.45) and offensive rebounds (13.2).

• Alvarez has reached double figures for the past five game, tying his longest streak of the season.  
• Leon Ayers III scored 13 points to surpass 10 points for the third time in as many games.
