GREENSBORO, N.C. - UNCG women's soccer (0-1, 0-0) looks to bounce back from its season-opening loss to High Point, playing a high-profile opponent in NC State (3-0, 0-0) this Wednesday in Raleigh. The Spartans have had success against the Wolpack in recent years, holding a 7-1-1 record against the side since 1996. This week's matchup was scheduled shortly after the cancellation of the Spartans' originally slated contest against Elon, who were forced to postpone their February 27th match with UNCG due to COVID protocols.

HOW'S THEIR FORM?
-- UNCG is coming off a 2-0 loss to High Point in the Piedmont Triad derby last week. The Panthers are currently on a two-match winning streak in the rivalry
-- The Wolfpack are already three games into their season, going a perfect 3-0 in matches against Old Dominion, UNCW and Campbell. All of those contests were played in Raleigh
SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
-- Starting UNCG keeper
Abby Buchholz made five saves against the Panthers last week. She and center backs
Kayla Campbell and
Ashley Avelino all played a full 90 minutes against HPU
-- Campbell was selected to this season's Preseason All-SoCon team. She led all conference defenders with five goals in 2019
-- While the Spartans went scoreless in their opener, they return 69 percent of their point production from the 2019 season, led by returning junior
Nicole Souply (12)
SCOUTING NC STATE
-- Sophomore Leyah Hall-Robinson leads all NC State players with five points on the season. The forward tallied the first brace of her career against UNCW earlier in the month, scoring the game-winner five minutes into overtime
-- UNCW is the only team to have scored on the Wolfpack this season, with NC State holding opponents to just seven shots on goal combined this year. Starting keeper Maria Echezarreta already has two clean sheets on the year, making six saves in all
SERIES HISTORY
-- The Spartans' all-time series with the Wolfpack is even at 7-7-2, however NC State got the better of UNCG in their most recent 2018 meeting, by a score of 1-0
-- That loss broke up a streak of eight unbeaten matches the Spartans had against State, going 6-0-2 against the side between 1996 and 2015. Three of the pair's last five meetings have gone to double overtime
