GREENSBORO -- Outside hitters Maria Esch and Brittany Wood finished with 10 kills apiece, leading UNCG in a straight-sets loss to Elon in a non-conference volleyball match Thursday at Fleming Gym.

Esch, a senior, hit 10 kills, made a team-best seven digs and had two blocks for the Spartans (2-11 overall, 2-10 SoCon) in the 25-1, 25-22, 25-18 loss.

Wood, a sophomore, finished with a .500 kill percentage, while freshman Haven McPeek set 29 assists and made five digs. Junior Jenna Wiggs had 16 digs.

Leah Daniel finished with 12 kills and eight digs for Elon (3-3 overall, 2-2 Colonial). Haylie Clark set 17 assists and made 13 digs.

UNCG plays again on the road Sunday and Monday in a series at The Citadel.
