BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Sophomore
Ollie Palmer won his second consecutive singles match for UNCG men's tennis this Saturday, as the Spartans fell in a 6-1 final against Samford in Alabama.
Palmer won in straight sets at second singles, defeating Samford's Victor Chaw 6-4, 6-4. Palmer also won in Wednesday's match at Gardner-Webb to help the Spartans clinch a 4-3 victory over the Runnin' Bulldogs.
Nico Grewe came within a few points of collecting his fourth singles win of the season, battling back from a first set loss to force a third with his 6-3 win in the second. The junior would conceded the final frame however, as the remainder of the Spartan lineup went down in straight sets.
UNCG concludes its current three-match road trip at Macon the following day taking on the Mercer Bears. Mercer has one its last five matchups with the Spartans, however four of those contests have been decided by a single match.
