CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Senior outside hitter
Maria Esch finished with 10 kills, nine digs and an assist, leading UNCG in a straight-sets loss to the red-hot volleyball team from The Citadel at McAlister Field House on Monday afternoon.
The Bulldogs (8-11 overall, 6-8 Southern Conference) have won five of their last six, and they beat the Spartans (2-13 overall, 2-12 SoCon) by scores of 25-18, 25-19, 25-18.
The Citadel's Sharlissa de Jesus, who leads the SoCon in total kills, hit 17 more Monday to go along with 13 digs, two aces and two assists.

Haven McPeek had 24 assists and a block for the Spartans. Sophomore middle hitter
Grey Breen had six kills and a block, and sophomore
Brittany Woods also had six kills.
Junior defensive specialist
Jenna Wiggs made 13 digs for UNCG, which returns to Fleming Gym on Sunday to play Western Carolina in the Spartans' final homestand of the regular season.
