GREENSBORO, N.C. – Finishing the Pinehurst Women's Intercollegiate with its second-best round of the event, the UNCG women's golf team secured third place overall after shooting 304-295-301 for 900 (+36.)
Tara Bettle (1) put on a strong performance and clinched the individual championship after shooting 72-68-73 totaling 213 (-3).
The Spartans showed their resilience and heart as they fought for their spot on the podium through the final round and ultimately finished just three strokes off of St. John's (+33) for first.
UNCG led the event in par 3 average at 3.07. Bettle led in par 3 and par 4 averages, 2.67 and 4.07 respectively, total birdies (10), and total pars (38).
Hailey Joy (T11) was second among individuals in total pars with 37.
Joy shot 75-74-78 for 227 (+11),
Sara Rydman (T21) shot 79-78-75 for 232 (+16),
Victoria Cook (T21) shot 80-75-77 for 232 (+16), and
Anna Grace Brock (T33) shot 78-83-76 for 237 (+21).
Heading into their final week of play regular season play the Spartans can carry their heads high with a podium finish as they get back to work.
Tara Bettle's first place finish successfully clinched her entry to the North & South Women's Amateur Championship at Pinehurst No. 2 and No. 4 from July 11 to 17.
What's Next?
UNCG will participate in the ECU Invitational at Ironwood Country Club in Greenville, North Carolina from April 3 to 4.
