GREENSBORO, N.C. - UNCG women's soccer looks to open the SoCon season with a win for a fourth consecutive season this Friday, while facing ETSU on the road. The Spartans and Bucs will be playing in just their third matches of the season, with UNCG opening 2021 on a loss to High Point, before working to a 120-minute scoreless draw against NC State. ETSU will be looking for its first win of the season as well, with losses to Marshall and Lipscomb.

HOW'S THEIR FORM?
-- UNCG is coming off a 0-0 scoreless draw at NC State on the 24th, the only positive decision a club has gotten out of a matchup with the Wolfpack this year
-- ETSU has started off the season with back-to-back losses at the hands of Lipscomb and Marshall. Both of those were 2-1 finals, played in Johnson City

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
-- Goalkeeper Aiyanah Tyler-Cooper earned SoCon Defensive Player of the Week this past Tuesday after delivering a three-save shutout against State. The clean sheet was a full team effort however, with the Spartan defense keeping 17 of the Wolfpack's 20 attempts from reaching target
-- UNCG is still looking for their first goal of the season. Maddy Gilhool is leading all Spartans with three shot attempts on the year, while she and four of her teammates all have shots on goal this year
-- Centerback Ashley Avelino has played all 200 of her team's minutes in 2021, including the 120-minute shutout of State

SCOUTING ETSU
-- Sophomore midfielder Andjela Kricak has one of her team's two goals on the year, scoring a second half marker to force overtime against Marshall at the start of the season
-- The ETSU defense is allowing an average of 19 shots and two goals per game in 2021, while averaging seven and one in those same categories respectively

SERIES HISTORY
-- UNCG is 13-5 against the Bucs all-time, emerging victorious in each of their last two meetings 
-- ETSU did claim a victory the last time the two teams met in Johnson City however. The Bucs are an undefeated 4-0 against the Spartans at home since 2014
