GREENSBORO, N.C. – With a solid performance in their home state the UNCG men's golf team secured second place and freshman Tommy Lamb finished first individually at the Ross Collegiate Classic in Southern Pines, North Carolina.
The Spartans consistently sat near the top of the leaderboard and led the event in eagles and birdies with senior Zack Swanson's two eagles and Randall Hudson and Tommy Lamb's 15 birdies each. Noah Connor had a second best 14 birdies.
The competing lineup for UNCG shot 882 (+18) over three rounds shooting 297 (+9), 289 (+1), and 296 (+8) respectively. Swanson (T10) and Hudson (T10) both shot 220 (+4), Justin Emmons (T19) had 223 (+7), Symon Balbin (T21) a stroke behind with 224 (+8), and Jack Marcotte (T44) finished with 232 (+16).
Head coach Terrance Stewart brought three Spartans along to compete as individuals and two took top five finishes at the event. Tommy Lamb (1) shot 212 (-4) to secure the gold with Noah Connor (T4) finishing at 215 (-1). Ben Crow (77) shot 248 (+32).
What's Next
UNCG will take its lone trip to neighboring South Carolina for the General Hackler Championship in Myrtle Beach hosted by Coastal Carolina University at the Dunes Golf Course from March 14 to 16.
