GREENSBORO, N.C. - Off to one of its best starts in nearly two decades, UNCG women's tennis looks to remain undefeated this weekend while facing NC Central. The Spartans are off to a 3-0 start to the 2021 season after defeating Radford at home this past Thursday. The side opened the season against another MEAC opponent, beating Norfolk State 5-2 back on February 25th.

MATCHUP HISTORY
• UNCG blanked the Eagles in their most recent meeting, winning 7-0 last March at home
• That 2020 matchup broke up a streak of more than 15 years without playing NC Central
THE SPARTANS
• The Spartans are yet to take a doubles point this season, but are an impressive 14-4 in all singles matches in 2021
• Brianna Gomez and Hanna Giddings both remain undefeated in singles play this year, winning three straight in the second and third seed respectively
• Senior Emily Ory is on a two-match win streak in singles play after earning wins against Radford and Western Carolina's No. 4s
THE EAGLES
• NCCU has just one win on the year, defeating visiting Longwood by a final of 4-3. They've faced two SoCon members already, losing a 6-1 decision against Wofford and a 5-2 final against Western Carolina. UNCG has already defeated the Catamounts 4-3 to start the 2021 conference season
• The Eagles are 8-24 in singles play this year, with freshman Josefa Fernandez recording three of those victories. She is an even 3-3 this spring, while going 2-1 at the No. 2
COMING UP NEXT
The Spartans return home to continue their Southern Conference schedule, hosting Wofford at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 13th. UNCG has lost its last two meetings with the Terriers, but are 5-3 against the program since 2011.
