GREENSBORO, N.C. - UNCG women's tennis takes to the road this weekend, taking the short trip to Elon this Friday, before competing in an important SoCon matchup at Chattanooga on Monday.
Currenty tied in conference wins with Samford and Chattanooga, a victory over the Mocs this weekend could help propel the Spartans into the top-five in the SoCon standings and within a single match win of third-place Wofford. UNCG entered the most recent SoCon postseason tournament as a No. 4 seed in 2019.

MATCHUP HISTORY
• The Spartans are 3-6 against Elon since 2012, but beat the Phoenix 5-2 in the pair's most recent meeting, in Elon on April 3, 2019
• UNCG is on a two-match win streak against Chattanooga with back-to-back wins against the Mocs in 2019 and 2018. The two programs are an even 5-5 against one another going back to 2012
THE SPARTANS
• Hanna Giddings and Brianna Gomez lead the Spartans with seven and six wins in singles play respectively. Giddings started off the season on a 6-0 run, while Gomez earned SoCon Player of the Week honors back on March 29th after earning decisions against UNCW and No. 77 Julia Adams of Furman
• UNCG is 38-32 in singles play this year, going 33-7 in their five matches won
• Giddings also leads the Spartans with three doubles wins in 2021. Two of those victories came alongside Sophia Adams, who is tied with Tayah Cross for the runner-up spot in UNCG doubles wins this season
THE PHOENIX
• Freshman Lizette Reding leads the Phoenix with an impressive 13-2 record in singles play this year, going 10-1 when facing opponents' No. 3. She is currently on a five-match winning streak as an individual, while her only losses this spring have come against players from (RV) Charlotte and a Wake Forest side that currently ranks No. 30 in the country
• The combination of Sofia Edo and Victoria Saldh have combined for an 11-4 record in doubles play this spring, going 8-2 in their last 10 appearances as a duo
THE MOCS
• Junior Emma Van Hee leads the Mocs with an 11-4 record in singles play. Three of those four losses have come in SoCon play however, dropping four of her last six individual matchups in 2021
• Freshman Jessie Young and junior Bogdana Zaporozhets hold a 3-1 record in SoCon doubles this year, placing them third in the conference for No. 2 pairings this spring
COMING UP NEXT
The Spartans close out their home schedule next Wednesday, in the final SoCon matchup of the season against Mercer. UNCG athletics will be commemorating the careers of Sophia Adams, Eugenia Camacho, Tayah Cross, Brianna Gomez and Emily Ory before the senior day match, as the five compete in the final home competition of their Spartan careers.
