Southern Conference Announces Women's Soccer Players of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The UNC Greensboro women's soccer senior goalkeeper Aiyanah Tyler-Cooper was named the Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the Conference on Tuesday. This honor is Tyler-Cooper's third in her career, second as Defensive Player of the Week, since the Conference started announcing them in 2019. 

Tyler-Cooper, a senior goalkeeper from Charlottesville, Virginia, played every minute in goal this week. UNCG went 1-0-1 with a double-overtime scoreless draw against High Point University in the season opener on Aug. 19 and won at Elon University, 1-0, on Aug. 22. Tyler-Cooper faced 20 shots and recorded eight saves in 110 minutes against the Panthers and added five saves, facing 18 shots, on the road win over the Phoenix. The pair of shutouts, her 19th and 20th in her career, respectively, moved her into fourth in school history in that category. 

The shutouts were the first back-to-back clean sheets to start the season since 2016 for the Spartans.
