GREENSBORO, N.C. – In the iconic words of former rapper Jay-Z, it's "On To The Next" for the UNC Greensboro men's soccer team after suffering a season-opening setback.
 
UNCG gets another opportunity to erase the bitter taste of defeat when it hosts another in-state foe, Gardner-Webb in the second of a four-match homestand. This will be the second straight opponent from the Big South Conference for the Spartans.
 
The Spartans applied consistent offensive pressure in their loss to Campbell on Thursday. They fired 16 shots, had 11 corner kicks, and one penalty shot attempt.
 
A LOOK AT UNCG

• Theo Collomb scored his ninth career goal as he accounted for the Spartans' lone tally of the match against Campbell.
• Collomb and Fernando Garcia combined for 10 of UNCG's 16 shots throughout the contest.
• Niclas Wild had two saves for UNCG, which had 18 players see at least nine minutes.
• Collomb, Garcia, and Emmanuel Hagan were named to the Southern Conference Preseason team.
• The Spartans were picked as the preseason favorite to win the conference.
• UNCG hasn't lost consecutive games since Sept. 21, 2019 (Appalachian State) and Sept. 25, 2019 (Elon) – a stretch of 24 straight matches.
• Since Oct. 1, 2019, the Spartans have a 16-6-3 record under third year head coach Chris Rich. The Spartans have also scored at least three goals eight times during that span.
• UNCG has outscored Gardner-Webb, 14-2, in the four previous matches they have faced each other.
• UNCG has scored at least three goals in all four meetings against Gardner-Webb.

• Gardner-Webb dropped a 4-0 decision to Mercer on the road Thursday night.
• Mallel Rios had five saves against Mercer.
• David Negrin and Joao Espinheira had two shots each to lead Gardner-Webb's offensive attack.
• Gardner-Webb was picked fourth in the Big South preseason poll.
• The Runnin' Bulldogs played exhibition matches against Elon and Davidson during preseason.
• Gardner-Webb won five matches last season, including a victory over SoCon regular season champion Furman.
• UNCG is the second on three consecutive road matches against SoCon opponents to begin the season.
