Corey Carlin and his Spartan volleyball squad looks to continue their best start since 2010 with a tournament at George Mason. Along with a match against the Patriots, the Spartans will go head-to-head with Coppin State and Marist.

ABOUT THE SPARTANS
- With the Spartans 3-2 win over North Carolina Central, UNCG ties the 2010 squad for the best start in the program through the first seven games.
- Outside hitter Kayla White led the Spartans with 28 digs in the five-set match, setting a new career high. The Montgomery, Ala., native needs 119 to reach the 1,000 mark in her career.
- Gabriela McHugh's 50 assists against NCCU was the fourth highest in the junior's career. The three before came her freshman year; 51 vs. Furman, 52 vs. The Citadel, and 57 vs, UIW. The Ashley, Ind., native is approaching Robyn Freeh ('98-'99) for the ninth-place spot in career assists for All-time. She has a total of 1,767, sixth in career stats since rally-scoring.
- Jenna Wiggs is in the top 10 of the Southern Conference in digs. The senior libero is averaging 3.29 per set. She has a career total of 954, 46 away from the millennium mark.
- Wiggs and White lead the conference in service aces. White leads with 15 while Wiggs follows with 11. UNCG also leads the conference as a team, averaging 1.82 per set.
- Grey Breen joined White as being the only Spartan to have double digit kills. Breen totaled 15 kills and had the only solo block for the Blue and Gold.
- The Spartans are one of two teams in the SoCon to have over 300 total kills. UNCG has totaled 374 while Chattanooga has 325.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
- Coppin swept George Washington University, 3-0 on Wednesday night in the Eagles' home opener, defeating the Colonials for the first time in program history.
- Miajavon Coleman leads the MEAC with 4.00 kills per set while Ashley Roman is tops in the conference and among the National leaders with 5.48 digs per set.
- Andrea Tsvetanova has split time with Kareemah Hopkins at setter and ranks fourth in the conference with 7.80 assists/set while directing the offense to a .174 hitting percentage.
- Miajavon Coleman ranks third in school-history with 1,112 kills and her 3.55 kills/set are the second most at CSU.
- Ashley Roman ranks fifth in school-history with 952 digs and could possibly move into fourth this weekend, need 42 digs to pass Shauniece Steward ('05) in the category. Roman's 4.76 digs per set and 20 matches with at least 20 digs are school records.
- Jordan Celestine is nearing 200 career blocks with 192 which sits fourth in CSU history.
SCOUTING THE RED FOX
- The Red Foxes lost to Big east foe Seton Hall in five sets after trailing 0-2.
- Jordan Newblatt and Gabby Murray led Marist with a season-high 13 kills each. Newblatt added 18 digs for a double-double.
- Perri Lucas led Seton Hall with 12 kills
- MiKinley Fox led the game in assists with 41. She added 12 digs for a double-double.
- Morgan Owens had a team-high 26 digs.
- Murray had three service aces to lead Marist.
- Taylor Jakubowski and Calga Bengi totaled 17 assists each for Seton Hall
- Seton Hall outhit the Red Foxes .245-.165.
SCOUTING THE PATRIOTS
- Mason dropped its three matches at the UCI/Adidas Invitational last weekend. The Patriots were swept by UC Irvine and Boise State and fell in five sets to Southern Utah.
- Senior Peyton Ehmke and sophomore Katelyn Clark were named to the UCI/Adidas Invitational All-Tournament Team. Ehmke averaged 1.82 kills and 0.82 blocks per set while Clarke averaged 2.73 kills and 2.64 digs per set.
- Clarke notched a pair of double doubles against Boise State (10k/10d) and Southern Utah (14k/12d).
- Freshman Morgan Nguyen stepped up for the Patriots as defensive specialist. She posted 10 digs against Boise State and 12 digs in her first career start against SUU. She added four service aces, including two against the Broncos.
- Senior setter Erin Derick ranks second in the Atlantic 10 in assists per set (8.22). She registered a pair of double doubles against Boise State (27a/10d) and SUU (41a/13d).
- Freshman Ewelina Gacek is second in the league in service aces per set (0.61). She tied her season-best three aces against SUU. In addition, the rookie ranks 10th in the A-10 in digs per set (2.89).
- Mason currently sits second in the A-10 in service aces per set with 1.72.
