How it Happened:
  • 2:36 – NC State acted early, taking the ball from from field to field, with Carol Soto leading the charge. Soto sent a give and go to Toni Starova, who gave it back to Soto inside the 18-yard box. Soto crossed it backwards to the charging Annika Wohner putting the Wolfpack ahead 1-0.
  • 38:47 –Brianna Weber put away the Wolfpack's second goal of the game, as Jenna Butler took the initial shot just outside the six-yard box that Aiyanah Tyler-Cooper stopped on a diving play.
  • 53:16 - Starova set up Jameese Joseph, as she maneuvered around the UNCG defense to sneak the ball inside the bottom left corner extending their advantage to three, 3-0.
By the Numbers
  • This is the first time all season that the Spartans have totaled more corners than their opponent, 5-4.
  • Senior goalkeeper Aiyanah Tyler-Cooper stopped three shots, while Abby Buchholz recorded two saves in her first appearance this year in net.
  • This is the 20th meeting between the two teams, as NC State now holds the advantage with an 8-7-2 mark.
From the Coaches' Box/Michael Coll, Head Women's Soccer Coach
On The Game
  • "I think the score was fair. NC State is a quality opponent. We played quite well; we had some nice attacks especially on the left side. We had five or six corners and half of those corners were very dangerous, where we could have scored some goals."
All In
  • "We had a lot of bodies on the field tonight. That experience will get us to a nice place as we approach conference play."
Coming Up to JMU
  • "This team is focused; they do not need a spark. They will be ready. We will learn from this. I am looking forward to getting the video and breaking it down to work with the players to learn some things. JMU is a good team, another tough battle, and our players will be pumped and excited to play."
