GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro Volleyball team will play at home for the first time season when they welcome Norfolk State and American for the Spartan-Aggie Tournament this Friday and Saturday.
UNCG's first match will be at home this Friday when they welcome Norfolk State for a 6 p.m. match. Saturday's double header will begin at 11 a.m. when the Spartans take on American in Fleming Gym. Later in the day, the Blue and Gold will make the 2.2-mile drive to NC A&T for a 7:30 p.m. match.

ABOUT THE SPARTANS
- The Spartans are coming off a 3-0 sweep of the Appalachian State Mountaineers on Saturday night at the App State Tournament. UNCG also had a 3-1 win over the Radford Highlanders.
- Outside hitter Kayla White lead the Spartans with 43 kills in the tournament. Brittany Wood followed with 31, including a career high 12 kills against EKU.
- Gabriela McHugh is fourth in the Southern Conference with an average of 8.50 assists per set. She had a total of 102 assists in 12 sets played this weekend.
- White leads the SoCon in service aces and is 33rd in the nation. She had nine this weekend which brings her career total to 96, four away from the century mark.
- Junior Hannah Knier averaged 1.50 blocks per set the opening weekend. She is currently second in the conference for that category.
- As a team, the Spartans are second in hitting percentage (.231) and service aces (22). Other than The Citadel, who hasn't played a game yet, the Spartans have the lowest opponent hitting percentage with 1.33.
- Head coach Corey Carlin is one win away from 120 wins in his career.
SCOUTING NORFOLK STATE
- Norfolk State is coming off a heartbreaking 3-2 loss against Hampton on Tuesday.
- Junior outside hitter Shonte Seale led the Spartans with 24 kills in the match. She registered a .262 hitting percentage on 24 kills, eight errors, and 61 attempts.
- Kalaya Brown served three aces against Hampton. Caris Cross and Nicole Rodriguez followed with two each.
- Cross, a freshman setter, dished out 42 assists in the five-set match. She averaged 8.40 assists per set.
- Five Spartans had blocks against Hampton. Gracie Teeter led with five, followed by Kendra McRuffin with four. Rachel Williams, Taylor Eichelberger, and Caris Cross capped off the blocks with three each.
- Three Spartans had double-digit digs. Nicolle Rodriguez (24), Rachel Williams (21), and Shonte Seale (14).
- Kathy Bullock enters her third season at the helm of the Norfolk State volleyball program.
SCOUTING AMERICAN
- The Eagles are coming off a 3-1 win over George Washington on Saturday. Prior, American lost to George Mason, 1-3, but beat Georgetown 3-2.
- Outside hitter Zeynep Uzen leads American with 51 kills so far. She is averaging 3.92 kills per set.
- Graduate student Chiara Bosetti leads with 55 digs on the season. Uzen follows her her with 36, followed by Inbal Peleg and Asli Celikkol with 31.
- Two Eagles have double-digit blocks on the season. Carlie Fiske leads with 13. Allie Burke is two blocks behind her with 11.
- Peleg has dished out 62 assists in the three matches for the Eagles. She has 20+ assists in the matches against Georgetown and George Washington.
- Barry Goldberg enters his 33rd season at the helm of the American volleyball program.
SCOUTING NC A&T
- The Aggies are 2-1 on the sason so far with wins over Samford and NC Central. Their only loss was against Clemson.
- Edie Brewer and Andrea Laboy-Rivera lead the Aggies in digs. The duo has 35 each.
- One player from NC A&T has more than 10 blocks. Senior middle blocker Shaylynn Hall has 14 blocks on the season. Three of those are solo blocks.
- Senior Edie Brewer is on top of the Aggies in service aces. She has seven on the season.
- Freshman outside hitter Naiya Sawtelle has 41 so far. Every match, she has had double-digit kills, the most being 17 against Clemson.
- Brewer and Addy Warfield are battling for the top spot in assists Right now, Brewer has the edge by one assist with 61 total.
- Hal Clifton is entering his 11th season at the helm of the NC A&T volleyball program.
