Samford: 5-3-2, 2-0-0 SoCon
The Bulldogs scored three second half goals to earn the victory.
Dalani Stephens and
Nicole Souply had quality shots on goal for the Spartans. Souply's shot in the 17th minute resulted in a pair of corner kicks for UNCG, which had five for the contest.
From the Coaches' Box/Michael Coll, Head Women's Soccer Coach
"A game of two completely different halves. In the first half, we played well overall, and the 0-0 halftime score was very fair, and we showed some nice patterns of play. The second half we were second best to Samford's intensity and individual toughness in 1v1 contests. We knew this would be an extremely difficult place to come to and get a positive result. But we can't be happy with our performance after the halftime break today when we looked like a different team. We have to learn from today and get better now for three home games in a row!"
UNCG returns home to play VMI Friday at 7 p.m. It's the start of a three-match homestand for the Spartans.
