GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro volleyball team will continue its hot start when the Spartans welcome North Carolina Central to Fleming on Tuesday, September 7 at 7 p.m.

ABOUT THE SPARTANS
  • The Spartans 5-1 start is on track to join the 2010 for the best record in the first seven games. The 2010 squad started the season 6-1 including a win over Navy.
  • Kayla White scored her 100th career ace in the match against NC A&T on Saturday night. It came four years and three days after her first collegiate ace.
  • UNCG has player in the top two of five statistical categories in the Southern Conference. Hannah Knier is second in hitting percentage (.333), second in blocks (1.43), Kayla White is first in kills (3.70), second in service aces (0.57), and Gabriela McHugh is first assists (10.26).
  • As a team, the Spartans are leading the SoCon in kills per set (13.26) and service aces per set (1.83).
  • Jenna Wiggs and Stephanie Meysembourg are tied with 76 digs each. White leads the team with 77.
  • Grey Breen is right behind Hannah Knier is block solos this season. Knier leads with six and Breen follows with five.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
  • The Eagles picked up their first win of the season with a 3-0 victory over Alabama State to begin play in the Campbell Invitational. NC Central (1-3 Overall) lost its last to matches in that event on Saturday, dropping straight-set matches to James Madison and the host Camels.
  • Sophomore setter Lauren Janok was named to the Campbell Invite All-Tournament Team. Janok leads the MEAC in assists per set (8.54) and aces per set (0.69). Janok, who also ranks in the top-10 of the MEAC in digs (3.08) and blocks (1.15) per set, has tallied at least 20 assists in all four matches this season.
  • Seniors Arlanda Faulkner and Ammaarah Williams top NCCU's scorers. Faulkner is leading the maroon and gray in kills per set (3.00) for a second straight season. Williams is filling up box scores with averages of 2.23 kills, 1.31 blocks and 0.31 aces per set. Williams leads the MEAC in blocks per set and her .404 hitting percentage is second in the conference.
  • Redshirt sophomore Alyssa Pieh is third in the MEAC with 4.31 digs per set in her first four matches at the libero position. Junior Abby Vacha is chipping in 1.92 kills per set and posted a career-high nine kills against James Madison. Senior Celene Morris follows with 1.62 kills per set, including a career-high eight kills in Friday's triumph over the Hornets. Morris is also tied with Janok for second on the team with 3.08 digs per set.
  • NCCU last played UNCG in 2019, losing in four sets. Faulkner recorded a double-double in that match with 10 kills and 11 digs.
