GREENVILLE, N.C. - Ava Romfo's two-under-par final round (70) effort boosted the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's golf team to a second-place finish at the Pirate Collegiate Classic, hosted by East Carolina University at Greenville Country Club Tuesday morning and afternoon.
 
The Spartans moved up three spots on the leaderboard tying for the final round's low team score with Georgetown at two-over-par (290). UNCG finished the 54-hole tournament 17-over-par (881), one stroke behind the host Pirates. The Spartans finished four strokes ahead of third-place Georgetown and Seton Hall.
 
East Carolina edged UNCG finishing 16-over-par (880) for its sixth-straight Pirate Invitational title. The Pirates carded the lowest round of the tournament of 281 during round two. This is UNCG's second runner-up finish of the season.
 
Romfo cracked the top-five individual leaderboard with five total birdies. Her first three came on the back nine where she started her day on the par-three, 158-yard tenth hole with a birdie. The sophomore carded two birdies on the 13th and 16th holes to finish her first nine holes one-under-par. Romfo remained steady through most of the front nine to close her day. She responded after a bogey on the seventh hole by finishing her round with back-to-back-birdies on the par-three, 160-yard eighth hole and the par-five, 425-yard ninth. Romfo finished one stroke off of fourth place in a tie for fifth at two-over-par (218) through all 54 holes after climbing nine spots on the leaderboard.
 
Teammate Grace Holcomb joined Romfo in a tie for fifth place after a final round even-par (72) effort. The sophomore posted one of her 10 total birdies on the par-four, 385-yard 14th hole after opening her round with a birdie on the tenth hole. Holcomb played a steady front nine, carding back-to-back birdies on the par-four, 366-yard fifth hole and the par-five, 458-yard sixth. Holcomb's one-under-par (35) front nine score moved the sophomore up four spots into a tie for fifth place overall.
 
Julia Baeumken held steady in the top-ten with a final round one-over-par (73), finishing with a 54-hole total of three-over-par (219). The freshman carded three birdies in her final round effort to earn a share of tenth place. Baeumken opened her round with birdies on two of her first three holes as she conquered the tenth hole and the par-four, 338-yard 12th on the way to a one-under-par (35) first nine on the course's back half. The freshman rebounded from a tricky closing nine holes with her third birdie on the par-three, 160-yard eighth hole to solidify her top-ten finish.

• Alexandra Phelps' one-under-par score on all par three holes finished in a tie for third place.

• Baeumken and Romfo's four-under-par effort on par five holes stood in a tie for sixth place in the field.
• Baeumken also posted an even-par score on par three holes, which stood in a tie for fifth.
• Romfo's 12 birdies stood in a tie for third in the field while Baeumken was one birdie behind in a tie for sixth.
• Nicole Lu tied for 25^th finishing 12-over-par (228)
• Anna Bowman placed 42^nd overall, while Victoria Cook tied for 44^th as an individual.
