GREENSBORO, N.C. – The No. 11 UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's soccer team travels to Spartanburg, South Carolina for its final game of the regular season to face the Wofford Terriers.
 
Currently the Spartans are tied for first with ETSU with 10 points, after the two teams played to a 1-1 draw. The Terriers are third with seven points. These three teams will be playing for the top three spots in the 2022 SoCon Men's Soccer Tournament, to begin next week.
 
RPI RANKINGS
  • UNCG is No. 15 in RPI
  • The Spartans are unbeaten against six teams in the top 40: Louisville (No. 7), SMU (No. 6), Clemson (No. 20), Elon (No. 31), Coastal Carolina (No. 37), and High Point (No. 40).
  • UNCG is the top SoCon team in the rankings, as ETSU is next at No. 117.
  • UNCG is the second school from North Carolina in the rankings as Duke is No. 2.
  • UNCG is one of seven mid-major teams in the top 15 of RPI.
CLIMBING HIGH
  • UNCG climbed to the top 15 in four polls this weed, including RPI.
  • The Spartans climbed to No. 11 in the United Soccer Coaches national poll and remained No. 4 in the South Region.
  • The squad also received a No. 12 ranking from TopDrawerSoccer and No. 13 ranking from College Soccer News.
MIDSEASON HONORS
J.C. Ngando & Marco Milanese were named to the TopDrawerSoccer Midseason Top 100 list.
 
Steven Hernandez (No. 25), Sami Lachekar (No. 71), and Colton Sessoms (No. 88) were named to the TopDrawerSoccer freshman college soccer player rankings.

  • Marco Afonso, Steven Hernandez, and Niclas Wild were each named to either TopDrawerSoccer or College Soccer News National Team of the Week this season.
LAST TIME OUT
  • UNCG earned its sixth shutout of the season behind a 1-0 victory over Mercer last Saturday in Macon, Georiga.
  • Ngando scored his fourth goal of the season and ninth of his career.
  • Marco Milanese recorded his second assist of the season.
  • Wild registered seven saves in his fifth shutout of the season.
  • With the clean sheet, Wild now has 18 shutouts to sit in sole possession of third in school history.
SOCON PRESEASON POLL & AWARDS
UNCG was voted to take the title in the Southern Conference (SoCon) Preseason Coaches Poll after winning the 2021 Regular Season Title.

SCOUTING WOFFORD
